When Does My Campervan Need Servicing?

As for the MOT, a campervan needs an annual test after it reaches three years of age, just as any other car or small van. This ensures it’s safe to drive on the roads, for its occupants and for other road users alike. So-called ‘motor caravans’ or campervan conversions have a standard Class 4 MOT test (the same as cars), while heavier vehicles between 3,000 and 3,500kgs will need a Class 7 test. 

The parts and processes checked during a campervan’s MOT are identical to what’s tested on a car. But do check that your test centre has the right premises for carrying out the test. A typical garage might not have the clearance or a lift large enough to MOT test larger vehicles.
